Popeye Jackson

Popeye Jackson was a prison reform advocate who served on the board of the California Prisoners Union before co-founding the United Prisoners Union. He spent 19 years in prison on various charges and was released in 1970. Five years after his release in 1975, he was murdered by an unknown gunman outside of his home in San Francisco.
