Marshall "Eddie" Conway

In 1970, Marshall Eddie Conway was Minister of Defense of the Baltimore chapter of the Black Panther Party. He was charged with homicide and the attempted homicide of Baltimore police officers. Represented by inadequate counsel and tried at a time when the existence of COINTELPRO was not known, Conway was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. He was incarcerated for over 31 years before his release in 2014. Eddie Conway transitioned in 2023.
