This collection contains materials from the liberation struggles in former Portuguese colonies. Guinea Bissau gained independence in 1973 and Mozambique and Angola achieved independence in 1975.
In addition to materials specifically related to each country’s independence struggle, the collection has a run of seven issues of People’s Power, which examines the national liberation struggles, reconstruction and on-going revolutions in former Portuguese colonies. The majority of each country’s sub-collection were produced by the party/army of liberation (MPLA: Angola; FRELIMO: Mozambique; PAIGC: Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde). Additionally the collection contains primary accounts, personal narratives and a graphic novel from the various wars of liberation.
