This issue of the Black Power! newsletter opens with a report on the July 1967 rebellions in Detroit, MI and violence against protestors by the National Guard. Following articles report on the nationwide uprisings in and state violence against protestors and Black Power activists. A statement by H. Rap Brown (Jamil al Amin) urges readers to protest, arguing the imperative of challenging the discriminatory and anti-democratic U.S. government and recognize the moment for revolutionary change. Further articles include dispatches from nationwide actions and campaigns; a call from the Black Power Committee to establish a Black University; a Global Views on international struggles; and an analysis of revolutionary self defense through from an internationalist Left perspective.
