A Tribute to the Spirit of Resistance: The Warsaw Ghetto / Tal al Zaatar
Publisher: Jewish Alliance Against Zionism (JAAZ)Date: 4/23/1988Call Number: null Format: TranscriptCollection: Anti-Zionism
Most likely taken from the San Francisco presentation of the Warsaw Ghetto/Tal al Zaatar program.
This transcript of the opening draws parallels between struggles and the spirit of resistance of the communities who were involved in the uprising against Nazi violence in the Warsaw Ghetto, on April 19th, 1943, and the Zionist-backed, Lebanese right's repression of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) mobilization within the Tal al Zaatar refugee camp. This transcript goes on to highlight the resistance of those affected by the Israeli invasion of Lebanon and siege of Beirut, noting the U.S. government's implication in Israeli violence, through financial and military aid. Lastly, this transcript centers the historic and contemporary continuation of resistance by the peoples' and communities marginalized, in contrast to the nations and political actors whose solidarity to these struggles remains verbal and immaterial.
